Position: Learning Support Teacher (Grades 9-12)/Gifted Support Teacher (Grades 5-12)
Position Available : January 31, 2025
• Comply with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania ‘s Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators (Title 22, Part XIV, Chapter 235).
• Development of IEPs, ERs, and other special education documents as part of the child’s IEP/MDE team.
• Responsible for the implementation of each approved IEP for students assigned to the teacher’s program and/or class list.
• To prepare, in advance, written lesson plans reflecting the goals and objectives of students’ IEPs.
• Ability to design and schedule lessons, activities, and learning experiences within the instructional day that meet the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the West Branch Area School District.
• Have lesson plans and required materials available to substitute teachers during absences.
• Use curriculum-based assessment to collect data and assess student learning.
• Evaluate the progress of students assigned and provide reports to parents, teachers, and administrators on a timely basis or as required.
• Instruct individual students or small groups of students within or outside the classroom.
• Maintain an environment conducive to the students’ social and emotional growth as well as academic achievement.
• Collaborate with general classroom teachers on a consistent basis regarding student’s progress.
• Development/adaptation of materials and teaching strategies to fit the needs of the learner.
• Liaise with parents and other agencies such as the medical profession, social workers, speech and language therapists and educational psychologists.
• Participate in professional activities such as field trips, Open House, parent conferences, IEP/social services meetings, committees etc.
• Teach lessons to students 7 hours per day.
• Respond to student issues and concerns within the classroom.
• Maintain contact with students’ parents via phone, email, or written correspondence regarding student progress or concerns.
• Maintain effective control and authority of all students in the classroom.
• Participate in professional development activities.
• Direct activities of paraeducators when appropriate
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Supervisor or building level administrator.
Qualifications: Certified to teach in the area of exceptionality to which assigned. Must be computer literate. Must
possess the ability to work collaboratively with others, including extensive experience in collaborating with students,
parents, professional staff, and community. Work is an internal classroom environment with some levels of noise. Position
requires sitting, standing, walking and moving about the school buildings as well as use of hands and fingers to pick,
pinch, seize, hold and grasp, and to feel. Must be able to hear (40 decibel loss maximum), verbally communicate, and see
with acuity of twenty (20) inches or less and far acuity of twenty (20) feet or more with depth perception,
accommodation, and field of vision. Performs a variety of duties; able to make judgments and work under varying levels
of stress. Subject to inside environmental conditions.

Position: Anticipated Permanent Part-Time Custodian
No Health or Dental Insurance Benefits (2024-2025 Rate: $18.42/hour)
JOB STATUS: Twelve – month position
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. includes a 30-minute duty-free lunch, Monday through Friday.
* Periodic shift changes to accommodate weather or projects. Summer hours will be
40-hour a week if available. School year hours will accommodate for projects and
absenteeism. The net results of hours will remain under the threshold for full-time
work.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Demonstrates moderate skills in the following areas:
o HVAC, Mechanical, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical
SPECIFIC DUTIES OF THE POSITION (includes but not limited to):
Basic grounds keeping duties such as fixing potholes, seeding and preparation of athletic fields.
Cleans assigned area in an acceptable manner, including but not limited to, sweeping, vacuuming rugs, cleaning tables, desks, straightening furniture, and dusting.
Wet mops all bathrooms, cleans sinks and toilets daily and replaces towels and tissue as needed.
Clean all drinking fountains daily, along with corridors, as assigned.
Requests supplies and custodial equipment needed in the performance of custodial duties.
Maintains, neatly, all custodial storage areas.
Moves/sets up furniture or equipment as required for various activities as directed by the supervisor or principal.
Performs minor maintenance such as changing light bulbs and assists with more complex maintenance jobs in plumbing, electrical and carpentry. Changes filters in heaters, if properly trained. PM of systems in the building.
Handles the receiving, storage, and disbursement of supplies to teachers and other staff, as requested.
Opening/closing of building, securing all doors and windows, and regulating heat/lighting, as necessary (on/off).
Cut grass, trims hedges and shovels snow. Must be able to operate snowplows, spreader equipment, tractors, trucks (any type shift and size that does not require a special license).
Paint, wash windows, clean walls, class desks, and furniture, and shampoo carpets. Will also scrub, wax, and polish floors, using machines.
Fire boilers and operate all heating equipment, removal of ash.
Other duties as assigned. Including possible changes in work hours if necessary.
Climb to height of 25 feet, balancing on ladders, scaffolding, and catwalks.
Lift up to 50 pounds, reach a distance of 31 inches and use fingers to pick, feel reach and grasp objects.
Stoop repetitively and twist the body from a stationary position and reach.
Work in an outside environment where temperature may be between 0 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Preferred knowledge of repairs to landscaping equipment
NOTICE:
Any employee who applies for and receives employment in the new position and /or different job classification and/or moving from part-time to full-time shall be placed on a twelve-(12) month working day trial period.
All probationary custodians must have knowledge of the heating system. The District may return an employee to his/her former position any time during the trial period. Employees who fail to qualify within the prescribed trial period shall be permitted to return to their former classification without loss of seniority. If the employee requests to be returned to his/her former job within the trial period, he/she shall be permitted to return without loss of seniority, provided he/she makes such request in writing and states the reasons for the return.
